Graduate students and new professionals face unique challenges and issues. From surviving graduate school, managing stress, implementing work-life balance, having feelings of inadequacy and imposter syndrome, navigating transitions and more, our future counselors have a lot on their plate. Share your lessons learned and unique insights that will help meet the needs of this essential population.

Proposal Evaluation

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Alignment with the theme and targeted audience
  • Ability to foster engaging discussion
  • Clear title and abstract that describes the presentation
  • Timely, relevant and/or appropriate topic selection.
  • Positive contribution to the conference, graduate students and emerging professionals and the future of counseling

Proposal Topics

We invite you to submit session proposals that will showcase and discuss valuable resources and research to help emerging professionals navigate this critical time in their career. Presentation topics can include:

  • Ethical practice and decision-making
  • Translating theoretical foundations and modalities into practice
  • Developing your niche and professional identity
  • Preparing for the counselor comprehensive examination
  • Navigating licensure and specialty certifications
  • Preparing and applying for practicum/internship opportunities
  • Career exploration & planning
  • Session notes and Documentation
  • Using the DSM 5
  • Writing treatment plans
  • Writing progress and session notes
