Continuing Resolution Extends Telehealth Through September

Mar 20, 2025

On March 14, Congress passed a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government through September 30. This averted a federal government shutdown and largely maintains federal funding levels, though it does reduce non-defense spending by roughly $13 billion while increasing defense spending by $6 billion.

As part of the CR, telehealth flexibilities were also extended through September. This means the six-month in-person visit requirement is waived util October 1. ACA will continue to advocate for these extensions and is working with the Mental Health Liaison Group to get these extensions made permanent, enabling clients and counselors to feel secure in their access to this essential service.
