Counseling Compact Update

Momentum continues on the Counseling Compact!

• Six states have introduced Counseling Compact legislation so far this session: Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon and Texas.
• The Compact Connect database project is also finished- counselors should be able to start applying for the privilege to practice this fall. Track the progress of the database production here.

The target is to have 39 states enact the Counseling Compact by the end of 2025. We’ve already a year ahead of schedule in getting 30-35 states to enact the Compact- reflecting widespread support for the mental health and counselors! We are committed to continuing this momentum and progress despite historical slowdowns of occupational compact adoption after reaching 28–30 states.
