May 11, 2022
On Friday, April 29, 2022, President Biden announced May as Mental Health Awareness Month. The Biden administration has been committed to raising awareness of the importance of mental health and supporting programs and services for the mental well-being of Americans, as well as recognizing the vital services of mental health providers, such as licensed professional counselors, who have especially been essential during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This proclamation is another demonstration of the administration’s “solidarity with those who are experiencing mental health conditions…[by] transforming mental health care for all Americans.” The American Counseling Association joins this national movement, endorsed by the president, to raise awareness and end stigma around mental health.
