The event takes place Sept. 27 – 29, 2019, in Brisbane, Australia, at the Hilton Hotel Queensland.
“The American Counseling Association appreciates the many opportunities and insights afforded by coming together as a global community of professionals,” ACA Chief Executive Officer Richard Yep said. “Our collaborative efforts will lead to the development and refinement of counseling theories, research, practices and skills training that are in the best interest of our clients, both in the Asia Pacific Rim and in the United States.”
The three-day event will focus on insight and learning from around the Pacific Rim, with a special focus on meeting community mental health needs. The conference sessions are designed to help build the capacity of professionals in the Asia Pacific Rim who deliver front-line mental health services across a range of issues. Among other topics, the sessions will provide insight into the latest research and treatment strategies on alcohol and other drug use, trauma, suicide prevention, and telehealth.
Mental health professionals attending the conference work in a wide range of areas, including research and development, policy, curriculum development, consumer advocacy, system design, lived experience of mental health issues, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support.
Detailed information on the conference, including registration information, is available online.
