Red Cross Issues Call for Mental Health Volunteers for Florence Response

Sep 17, 2018

The American Red Cross is in great need of disaster mental health volunteers to help individuals and families cope with the trauma of this natural disaster, and has asked ACA and their other mental health partners to issue a call for volunteers who are not currently in the Red Cross system.

To volunteer, ACA members must hold (or have held if retired) a license to practice as a professional counselor or a license/certification as a school counselor.

The Red Cross will cover volunteers’ costs for transportation, housing, food and incidentals and provide orientation and training. They will do their best to match staffing needs with volunteer’s availability, but given the circumstances, cannot guarantee deployment with volunteers’ specified timeframe.

For more information, and to volunteer visit the Red Cross Disaster Health and Mental Health Service page. Please read the Frequent Asked Questions there, and contact the Red Cross directly for additional information.
