Get Ready. April is Counseling Awareness Month!

Mar 30, 2018

For 2018, the American Counseling Association is focusing its Counseling Awareness Month efforts around the theme “A Counselor Can Help,” with an emphasis on spreading the word via social media using the hashtag #CounselorsHelp.

ACA member counselors—and all professional counselors—are an important part of countless life-changing moments across the globe. Professional counselors help in many ways, in many settings.

A counselor can help with:

  • recovering from trauma,
  • recovering from addiction,
  • making school choices,
  • making career choices,
  • getting a marriage on the right track,
  • getting a relationship on the right track,
  • getting a family on the right track,
  • rejoining civilian life after serving in the military,
  • helping everyone to reach their full potential
  • and much, much more.

During the month of April, the American Counseling Association will ask members to help spread the word, on social media and in other venues, about the many ways counselors can help. We hope you’ll share your stories through our April 2018 social media campaigns—and with your local media outlets.

If you’ll be joining us in Atlanta for the ACA Conference & Expo, we hope to see you at the Opening Night reception on Friday, April 27, where we’ll be ready to photograph you and your colleagues as you share your stories of the ways “A Counselor Can Help.”
