Career Center Special Events at Convention

Feb 24, 2006

Manager, Career Services

Employers of counselors and counselors seeking professional opportunities will have a venue for meeting one another in the ACA Career Center, located in the Exhibit Hall, during our convention in Montreal.

Amy Connelly, ACA's Manager of Career Services, has developed the program since 2002 and is optimistic as we approach this year's convention. "We've seen quantum leaps in participation by employers over the last four years. Early indications are that this convention could provide our members with some of the most diverse job opportunities we've seen yet."

Pre-registration for the event is recommended, and gives all involved greater planning capabilities. Many candidates who pre-register for the event will arrive with several interviews already scheduled. In addition, pre-registered candidates will receive a number of pre-convention e-mails to help prepare them for interviews.

Employers who pre-register will have greater opportunities to promote their openings and, like their candidate counterparts, will arrive in Montreal with several interviews already scheduled.

Registration information for employers and candidates is available on the website on both the Career Center and Convention pages. (www.counseling.org, then choose either Career Center or Convention) Those candidates or employers who have special confidentiality concerns should communicate their needs to Connelly. "Clearly, this is a profession that understands the ethics of maintaining confidentialities. Without sounding too 'cloak and dagger-ish', we have options to support participants who need to keep a low profile."

In addition to interviewing opportunities, a number of seminar offerings will be presented in the Career Center's workshop area. Here is a complete schedule at press time; other additions to the schedule are likely:
