Ohio Graduate Student is First in ACAF Contest

Marisa White, a student in the doctoral program of Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Akron (Ohio), has been selected as the first place winner of the 2005 Graduate Student Essay Contest sponsored by the American Counseling Association Foundation. As winner of the top prize, White will receive a $500 grant from the Foundation and a one-year's membership to ACA.

Jane Goodman, Chair of the ACA Foundation noted that the competition will be entering its seventh year in 2006 and she hoped to see even more than the 90 graduate student essays that were submitted in 2005. “We consistently see some very thoughtful and interesting essays, and I hope that counselor educators will continue to encourage their students to participate in this program,” said Goodman.
