As a Nominee, you will need the following information to complete the online form:

  • Name of the ACA Fellow that is nominating you.
  • You must hold ACA membership for at least 15 continuous years at the time you are nominated and agree to maintain membership in ACA.  Note: “Continuous” is defined as no more than two lapses of three months (for each lapse) within the fifteen-year time period.
    1. Your ACA membership number.
    2. Your first year of ACA membership.
    3. Any years in which your ACA membership lapsed.
  • The years in which you have been previously nominated. Note: Previously nominated individuals must wait a minimum of three years before being nominated (i.e. they are eligible to reapply in the third year. As an example, if a nomination was unsuccessful in 2025 the individual is eligible to reapply in 2028.)
  • You must have a master's or doctoral degree in counseling. You will need to provide the title, date, and university of all graduate degrees.
  • Confirmation that you have no record of any ethics violations.
  • You must demonstrate a professional identity as a counselor. You will need a maximum of 300 words to describe your professional identity.
  • You must have a commitment to diversity and ethics. In a maximum of 300 words, describe your approach to diversity and ethics.
  • Please review the criteria for the ACA Fellow Award.  You will have a maximum of 800 words for your statement:
    1. Discussing how you have met these criteria, and
    2. How your contributions are consistent with ACA’s mission (The mission of the American Counseling Association is to promote the professional development of counselors, advocate for the profession, and ensure ethical, culturally inclusive practices that protect those using counseling services.) 

Please note: While the quantity of work (e.g., the number of leadership positions, publications, classes taught, clients served) can be an important factor, this award recognizes those who have gone beyond quantity and provided quality work that has influenced, changed, and significantly advanced the counseling profession and/or counselor practices on the national level through their professional practice; scholarly achievement; leadership and governance; and/or teaching, training, supervision and mentoring.  Please focus your statement accordingly.
