Angela Thompson joined the American Counseling Association (ACA) in 2017 and was appointed chief operating officer in 2022.  As the chief operating officer, she works in conjunction with the CEO to drive strategy and a high level of collaboration between staff and volunteer leaders of the organization, ensuring that ACA continually exceeds expectations.

Angela joined ACA after a variety of roles within the management consulting, government contracting and non-profit industries, including in human resources, turnaround management and operational excellence. Characterized by others as an engaging business leader equally successful in building collaborative partnerships with senior executives, business partners, investors, and operating teams, she brings a unique perspective and vision to the association while serving as an advocate, trusted advisor and mentor to many. Angela has been credited with both achieving strong return on key investments and driving operational improvements.

Angela holds a Bachelor of Art in Behavioral and Social Sciences from the University of Maryland.
