Chemical Dependency Counselor - Heisler Inpatient
Location: Sioux Falls, SD, United States
PRIMARY PURPOSE/FUNCTION OF POSITION: To provide chemical dependency counseling and treatment services to individuals and their families. Understanding and proficiency in ASAM criteria.
REPORTS TO: Director of Chemical Dependency Services
1. Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments and evaluations as assigned. 2. Develop individualized treatment plans and treatment plan reviews per program policy. 3. Provide a minimum of one hour of individual counseling per client per week. 4. Facilitate group therapy sessions, aftercare counseling sessions, family counseling and
educational/support groups as scheduled. 5. Document client’s participation in all scheduled groups and counseling sessions. 6. Coordinate the development of aftercare plans and appointments for all clients. 7. Develop discharge summaries on all clients and send to appropriate individuals. 8. Complete release/consent forms to all appropriate individuals/agencies. 9. Attend and participate in all scheduled staff meetings. 10. Insure that all charting and all patient records comply with accreditation requirements. 11. Keep parents and/or involved agencies informed of clients progress in treatment. 12. Attend training required for professional certification and to meet program licensing standards. 13. Perform other tasks as assigned.
HOURS: Full-time position requiring flexibility in scheduling and rotation on an on-call system.
A minimum of 2 evenings per week.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in human service field and a minimum of two years related work experience, or an equivalent combination. Master’s degree preferred. Must be certified or certifiable at Level II or III for chemical dependency counseling in the state of South Dakota. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
